I was recently in Vegas, attending a photography convention, and was stopped in my tracks by a photograph at the MGM Hotel, where I was staying. When you exit the elevators and make your way towards the rooms, the hotel displays large, vintage photographs of its MGM stars, in a square format. This one was of Marilyn. It was an image that looked like it was taken between posed shots, maybe before or after styling. A simple glass on the ground, her figure bent at the waist, one finger touching her leg. AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! Why is this so gorgeous? I love that for me, it was a completely visceral reaction, with no rhyme or reason. That what great art does, doesn’t it? I wish I could credit the photographer, but no byline was given. I just think it’s sublime…And cheers to the MGM art director for having the savvy to display it versus a headshot. I hope to post more of these fun finds! Christina
